#202
Aluminum Emulsion
is a UL Rated, technologically
advanced, high quality reflective coating that provides a tough layer of
protection over roof surfaces. #202’s brilliant aluminum finish reflects the
sun’s rays to help lower interior temperatures and preserve the roof surfaces.
This professional grade coating can be applied over virtually any type of roof
surface (including damp surfaces). It contains built-in rust inhibitors and is
easy to mix and apply. This is a water based coating. #202 is non-polluting,
non-toxic and non-combustible. Equipment can also be cleaned faster using water
thus eliminating costly down time.
Uses
#202 is a reflective roof coating
for; Modified Bitumen, Built-up, Smooth surface emulsion coatings, Metal,
Asphalt, Parapet Walls, Flashings, Exposed piping and ducts, Stucco,
Polyurethane Foam, and Other approved surfaces
Advantages
#202 reduces indoor building
temperatures in summer by reflecting the sun's rays. It is self-preserving. Its
aluminum armor reflects most of the rays of the sun which oxidize and age the
asphalt base below.
Installation
Coverage
Product yield will be from 75 to 100 square feet per gallon per coat. The yield
varies according to the existing surface texture. As a general rule, the
smoother the surface, the less material is required.
Surface
Preparation
Remove all dirt, dust, debris and standing water by brooming and by forced air
where necessary and where no danger or nuisance is caused to areas adjacent to
work. All loose gravel must be removed from ballasted roofs. Scrape back to a
hard edge all loose or scaled coating. Make all necessary repairs to existing
surface prior to coating. Split seams, blisters and cracks in existing surface
should be repaired with Roof Cement. Heavily weathered or exposed felt surfaces,
as well as concrete, masonry, or weathered metal should receive an application
of Asphalt Primer prior to coating. All surfaces must be dry prior to
application.
Application
Coating must be thoroughly stirred prior to and occasionally during use.
Mechanical mixing, if practical, is recommended. Apply by spray with a standard
mastic pump and gun sized by a knowledgeable pump dealer for the particular
application or by pouring directly from the container and spreading with a soft
roofing brush or long nap roller. Brush or roll product out uniformly and
evenly, taking care not to overwork it.
#202 cleans up with soap and water when wet. If dried, clean tools with paint
thinner or mineral spirits.
For the easiest workability in cold temperatures, warm containers by storing
them overnight in a room at 65° to 75° F.
Drying Time: Four hours to touch
at 70° F. & 50% relative humidify.

Restrictions
Minimum application temperature is 40° F. and rising. Do not apply to areas
which pond water; do not use on dead level, tar base, or existing gravel roofs.
Do not apply to new asphalt roofs which have cured less than 30 days, solvent
based asphalt coatings less than 30-90 days old, or to asphalt emulsion coatings
that have cured for less than 30 days. Surfaces to be coated must be dry and
clean and must remain so for 24 to 48 hours after application. Light rain or
heavy dew will inhibit the leafing of the aluminum flakes, causing the product
to dry brown.
Do not use with PVC film. Do not use where material, once applied, may come into
contact with potable water. Not for use on or with products containing coal tar.
Do not use on slate shingles or apply directly to wood surfaces. Not for use
over rubber or plastic membranes - asphalt modified only. For exterior use only.
