AREAS OF USE:
Interply mopping adhesive for built-up (BUR) assemblies.
High performance floodcoat on new hot-applied asphalt built-up roofs. A bonding adhesive for flashing membranes.
A bonding adhesive for fully adhered SBS modified bitumen system.
Interply and surfacing adhesive for insulated roof membrane assemblies (IRMA).
Interply and surfacing adhesive for garden roofs.
BENEFITS:
Represents a high quality surfacing bitumen formulated for improved weathering resistance to extend the performance life of the roof.
Modified to accommodate normal roof stress created by thermal changes, making the roof less likely to split or rupture.
Can be used with most conventional roofing equipment - eliminating the need for special equipment that may increase the cost of your roof project.
Contains no asbestos.
Proprietary formula using Shell Kraton G provides the added value of increased roof longevity.
INSTALLATION:
Surface Preparation: Surface prepared to project specification must be clean and dry.
Heating: #150 Hot Rubberized Adhesive must be heated in a conventional roofing kettle to a minimum temperature of 400 °F. In order to achieve a consistent temperature of #150 Hot Rubberized Adhesive during application, the kettle should be equipped with a circulating pump. #150 Hot Rubberized Adhesive may be applied in a temperature range (EVT) of 425°F ± 25°F when mopping and 450°F ± 25°F when using a mechanical spreader. Avoid heating above 525°F. The flash point of #150 Hot Rubberized Adhesive is above 550°F.
When working with coated and uncoated ply sheets, the application temperature of the #150 Hot Rubberized Adhesive must not exceed 400°F to avoid distortion of polyester.
Add material #150 Hot Rubberized Adhesive and plastic wrap to the kettle. Allow #150 Hot Rubberized Adhesive to melt at least 20 minutes before pumping in order to completely melt the plastic wrapper and modified asphalt material.
Application: #150 Hot Rubberized Adhesive may be applied by mop, using cotton or fiberglass mop heads. Felt layers, such as Garlock Universal, can be used. Chain mops are not to be used with uncoated polyester ply sheets, as they can damage the ply.
Final Surfacing: As surfacing floodcoat of #150 Hot Rubberized Adhesive is applied (see Coverage Rates), broadcast a minimum of 400 lbs. of new, clean roof gravel per 100 sq. ft. into wet flood coat.
COVERAGE RATES:
Interply: 3 gallons ± 20% per 100 square ft. (25 lbs. ± 20 %)per ply.
Surfacing Floodcoat: 6 gallons .± 20% per 100 square ft. (50 lbs. ± 20%), minimum.
Flashing Adhesive: Smooth Surface - 2.5 gallons (21.5 lbs.) per 100 square ft.
Gravel Surface Application: 5 to 6 gallons (42.5 to 501bs.) per 100 square ft.
Adhesive for SBS Modified Bitumen System: 3 - gallons ± 10% (25 lbs. ± 20%) per 100 square ft.
PACKAGING:
#150 Hot Rubberized Adhesive is packaged in cartons weighing approximately 42
lbs., or 4 3/4 gallons; 48 cartons per pallet. Each pallet is weighed to assure
the proper quantities of material are shipped. Each package of material is
wrapped in meltable plastic to facilitate handling at the kettle.
STORAGE LIFE: One (1) year since storage conditions are beyond our control and may have a negative affect on
COLOR: Black
PRECAUTIONS:
Read MSDS and label before use. Follow
industry safety standards when working with #150 Hot Rubberized Adhesive. Follow
cold weather guide lines when required for working with hot material.
Kettle should circulate material during heating process. Not designed for smooth surface finish. Polymer modified asphalts hold their temperature longer than standard asphalts; therefore, kettle temperature may need to be kept lower to maintain the proper EVT at application. Recommend that a sandbox be available for roofing crews' shoes to reduce sticking and asphalt build-up. For industrial/commercial use only. Keep out of reach of children
