Installation
Coverage
Product yield to achieve desired rate will be from 2.5 to 4 gallons per 100
square feet. The yield varies according to the existing surface texture. As a
general rule, the smoother the surface, the less material is required. This
coverage is per coat or ply.
Surface
Preparation
Remove all dirt, dust, debris and standing water by brooming and by forced air
where necessary and where no danger or nuisance is caused to areas adjacent to
work. All loose gravel must be removed from ballasted roofs. Scrape back to a
hard edge all loose or scaled coating. Make all necessary repairs to existing
surface prior to coating. Split seams, blisters and cracks in existing surface
should be repaired with Global Shield Roof Cement and reinforced with
GlobalShield Polyester Mat. Heavily weathered or exposed felt surfaces, as well
as concrete, masonry or rusted metal should first be primed with #101 Asphalt
Primer. Metal roofs should be allowed to weather for six months prior to
coating.
Application
Apply by pouring directly from the container and spreading with a standard
roofing brush. Be sure to spread product evenly. For polyester fabric
installation, apply a first coat of #131 Cold Process Adhesive to roof surface
at 2.5 to 4 gallons per 100 square feet. Imbed the roofing ply/plies in wet
material, taking care to smooch out any wrinkles. Overlap 4" on parallel
seams and 6" on end seams. Apply a finish coat of #131 Cold Process
Adhesive at 2.5 to 5 gallons per 100 square feet. Note: When using Type II or
Type III fiberglass base sheets, cut the plies in 18 to 20 foot long sections
and allow to relax a minimum of 30 minutes prior to installation.
